Spórt i Scoil Bhríde

Spórt i Scoil Bhríde

Tá ról an-tábhachtach ag spórt i Scoil Bhríde. Glacann gach páiste páirt i gCorpoideachas ar scoil a chuireann deiseanna riachtanacha ar fáil d’fhorbairt fhisiceach, shóisialta, mhothúchánach agus intleachtúil an pháiste trí chabhrú leo saol iomlán, gníomhach, sláintiúil a chaitheamh. Cuireann an curaclam corpoideachais raon cothromaithe gníomhaíochtaí ar fáil do pháistí i bhfoirm shé shnáithe; Lúthchleasaíocht, Damhsa, Gleacaíocht, Cluichí, Gníomhaíochtaí Lasmuigh agus Gníomhaíochtaí Eachtraíochta agus Oiliúint uisce. Tá sé mar aidhm againn go mbeidh deis ag gach páiste páirt a ghlacadh ar fhoirne spóirt freisin, is cuma cén cumas atá acu.

Ó thaobh cúrsaí spóirt de, tá na nithe seo a leanas an-tábhachtch dúinn i Scoil Bhríde;

  • Go mbainfidh na páistí taitneamh as spórt.
  • Oiliúint den scoth agus forbairt scileanna a chur ar fáil.
  • Seasamh cothrom i leith na comórtasaíochta i gcónaí.
  • Rannpháirtíocht gach páiste, is cuma cén cumas atá acu.
  • Caidreamh comhchuí a chur chun cinn idir múinteoir agus páiste, agus idir na páistí uile.

Bíonn clár leathan spóirt ar siúl i rith na scoilbhliana agus glacann an scoil páirt i gcomórtais Chumann na mBunscol sa Pheil, san Iomáint agus sa Lúthchleasaíocht gach bliain. Tá foireann snámha agus leadóige ag an scoile freisin.

Cluichí Chumann na mBunscol:

Glacann an scoil páirt i gcomórtas Chumann na mBunscol gach bliain agus is iomaí uair a shroichemar na cluichí ceannais i bPáirc an Chrócaigh le blianta beaga anuas. Gach bliain, cuirimid isteach ar na comórtais peile do bhuachaillí agus do chailíní a thosaíonn san fhómhar agus an iománaíocht do bhuachaillí a thosaíonn san earrach. Tá sé i gceist againn cur isteach ar na comórtais camógaíochta san earrach 2021, don chéad uair riamh! Freastalaímid ar na comórtais lúthchleasaíochta i Seantrabh gach bliain freisin. Bíonn na comórtais seo ar siúl i mí na Bealtainne gach bliain agus baineann na páistí an-taitneamh go deo astu.

Leadóg:

Bhí áthas orainn foireann buachaillí agus cailíní a chur isteach sna comórtais bunscoile Laighin sa leadóg i mí Mhárta na bliana seo. Bhí seisiúr ar gach foireann (3 cluiche dúbailte) ó rang a sé agus ionadaithe ó rang a 6/5 freisin. Bíonn trí chluiche i ngach aon bhabhta, agus bíonn an bua ag an bpéire a shroicheann 9 gcluiche. Bhí dhá chluiche as baile ag na buachaillí sa chéad bhabhta i gcoinne Willow Park ina gcúirteanna nua sa Charraig Dhubh. D’imir ár mbuachaillí go hiontach sna cluichí deacra seo in aimsir gaofar. D’imir na cailíní cluiche amháin i bPáirc Bushy i gcoinne Carsyfort – ach chaill siad 2-1 i gcoinne foireann an-mhaith. Níor imir siad a cluichí eile de bharr gur dhúnadh an scoil, ach thaitin an rud ar fad go mór leo, go háirithe an treanáil ar an Satharn. Bhí spiorad an-mhaith i measc na bpáistí. Faraor, níl éinne ar na cúirteanna faoi láthair le COVID19 agus ní chríochnófar na comórtais anois. Ach, thaitin an deis go mór leis na páistí.

Snámh:

Bhí bliain an-rathúil ag Club Snámha Scoil Bhríde arís i mbliana. Bhí treanáil seachtainiúil ag grúpa 40 páiste ó mhí Mheán Fómhair go mí Fheabhra sula thosaigh na comórtais Laighin agus Uile-Éireann i mí Dheireadh Fómhair 2019 agus mí Feabhra 2020. D'éirigh go hiontach linn sna comórtais Laighin agus thángamar abhaile le 14 bonn san iomlán. Sna craobhacha Uile-Éireann, shnámh ár bpáistí go hiontach arís agus tháinig siad abhaile le an-chuid sariarracht phearsanta. Tá súil againn go mbeimid ag snámh arís sna comórtais Laighin i mi Dheireadh Fómhair, 2020 agus ba bhreá linn dá mbeadh na baill reatha agus baill nua linn dona comórtais sin.

Ficheall:

Lean an traidisiún fichille láidir ar aghaidh i Scoil Bhride arís i mbliana agus muid ag glacadh páirte i gcomórtas Laighin, roinn a haon. Glacann an 12 foireann is fearr sa chúige páirt sa roinn seo. I ndiaidh an chomórtais tosaigh de 100 páiste i mí Feabhra na bliana seo, thug Scoil Bhríde aghaidh ar na cluichí cáilithe, sciath roinn a haon agus déanaimid comhghairdeas ollmhór leis na páistí seo a chríochnaigh sa dara háit; John Danaher, Edmund McIntyre (board prize), Henry Danaher, Conor Maloney, Daniel Murphy, Laragh McIntyre (board prize), Oscar Malone, James Griffin and Vincent O’ Doherty.

Sport has a very important role to play in Scoil Bhríde. All children participate in physical education which contributes greatly to the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of the child, by helping them to lead full, active and healthy lives. The Physical Education curriculum provides a balanced range of activities for children through the six strands of Athletics, Dance, Gymnastics, Games, Outdoor and Adventure Activities and Aquatics’. Our aim is to create opportunities for all students to participate and represent the school in a wide variety of sports, irrespective of ability.

In terms of sport, the following are very important to us here in Scoil Bhríde:

  • Enjoyment of playing.
  • Proficient teaching and development of skills.
  • A balanced attitude towards competition.
  • Participation of all students, irrespective of ability.
  • Harmonious interaction between teacher/coach and student and between fellow students.

A broad programme of sport is planned for each school year and the school participates in Cumann na mBunscol competitions in Gaelic Football, Hurling and Athletics each year. The school also has a swimming and tennis team.

Cumann na mBunscol Games:

The school participates in Cumann na mBunscol competitions each year and we have reached the finals in Croke Park numerous times over the last couple of years. We enter football teams for boys and girls each year in September and we also enter a boys hurling teams every spring. We intend on entering a camogie team in the Spring 2021 competitions, which would be a first! We also participate in Athletics competitions in Santry each year. These competitions are run each May and the children really enjoy these special days.

Tennis:

We were delighted to enter a team of girls and boys for the Leinster Primary School League which kicked off in March this year. Each team has 6 players (3 doubles pairs) from Rang 6 with substitute players from Rang 6 and Rang 5. Each round consists of 3 matches which are won by the first pair to win 9 games. The boys played 2 Away matches in the opening round-robin format coming up against Willow Park teams and playing in their lovely tennis courts in Blackrock. The matches were tight and the boys played very well particularly in very windy conditions on both dates. The girls played 1 match in Bushy Park against Carsyfort school where they had a 2/1 loss against tough opposition. Sadly they did not get to play their next 2 matches due to schools closing. I think they enjoyed the preparation which included attending organised coaching on Saturdays leading into the tournament. There was great camaraderie and team spirit amongst the players. Unfortunately COVID has seen us all off the court and the League will not be completed, however the children were delighted to have the opportunity to play their matches and represent Scoil Bhride.

Swimming:

This year has been another really successful one for the Scoil Bhride Swimming Club. A group of over 40 children trained weekly from September to February to compete in the Leinster and All Ireland Schools Competitions in October and February 2020. We had fantastic results in the Leinsters and came home with 14 medals across the group and in the recent All Irelands the swimmers swam incredibly well and came home with lots of new best times. We hope that the swimmers will next represent Scoil Bhride in the Leinster Schools competition in October 2020 and we would encourage both new members and the existing swimmers to participate again.

Chess:

The strong tradition of chess continues this year as Scoil Bhríde competed again in Division 1 of the Leinster Primary Schools Tournament which comprises the top 12 school teams in Leinster. After an initial tournament of 100 children in February Scoil Bhríde qualified to compete in the playoffs, The Division 1 Shield. Congratulations to the team who came 2nd in the Division 1 Shield, John Danaher, Edmund McIntyre (board prize), Henry Danaher, Conor Maloney, Daniel Murphy, Laragh McIntyre (board prize), Oscar Malone, James Griffin and Vincent O’ Doherty.
