Fáilte ón bPríomhoide / Principal's Welcome

Bhunaigh Lúise Gabhánach Ní Dhúfaigh agus Anna Nic Aoidh Scoil Bhríde sa bhliain 1917 agus tá an scoil ag soláthar oideachas bunscoile den scoth trí mheán na Gaeilge do chailíní agus do bhuachaillí ó shin. Feidhmíonn an scoil faoi phátrúnacht an Ard-Deoise, Bhaile Átha Cliath agus déanaimid ár seacht ndícheall lá i ndiaidh lae físeanna ár mbunaitheoirí a chomhlíonadh agus luachanna ar bpatrúin a leanúint.

Ceapadh i mo phríomhoide ar Scoil Bhríde mé ar an 8, Eanáir 2018. Sular ceapadh mé, bhí blianta sona mar mhúinteoir ranga agus mar mhúinteoir oideachais speisialta caite agam in éineacht le páistí Scoil Bhríde agus ba mhór an phribhléid é domsa go bhfuair mé an deis gach rang grúpa ó Naíonáin Bheaga go Rang a 6 a mhúineadh. Tá sé fíor le rá gur fhoghlaim mise ó na páistí fad ‘s a bhí siadsan ag foghlaim uaimse. I rith na blianta sin, bheartaigh mé filleadh ar an staidéar mé féin agus bronnadh Máistreacht san Oideachas orm in 2016. Is mór an onóir dom a bheith sa ról seo anois ag leanacht leis an obair a rinne an t-ochtar príomhoidí a tháinig romham sa phost. Is cúis mór bróid dom, freisin, go bhfuilimse ag obair le foireann den scoth agus sinn ag glacadh cúraim oideachasúil, mhothálach agus shóisialta ár bpáistí óga orainn féin gach lá.

Tá ról tábhachtach ag an scoil sa phobal tríd an obair iontach a bhíonn ar siúl ag tuismitheoirí na scoile leis na múinteoirí ar mhaithe le cách. Caitfear ómós áite is muintearais a léiriú. Caitfear iad a chothú tríd ár bpobal de pháistí, thuistí agus mhúinteoirí ag obair le chéile le tacaíocht ón bpobal mórthimpeall orainn. Cuireann ár scoil go mór le saibhreas na háite, agus nuair nach bhfuil sé ar fáil, braithimid uainn é. Braithimid uainn an clog ag bualadh agus na páistí ag rith isteach ó ghairdín Bhóthar Oakley tríd an scoil ag 8.50am chun a línte a shroichint ar thaobh Pháirc Feadha Cuillinn agus guth na dtuismitheoirí agus an cúpla focal a bhíonn acu linn gach maidin.

Dar ndóigh, aithním an dúshlán atá ann do phobal na scoile i láthair na huaire. Feictear dom an tréaniarracht agus teacht aniar ár bpobal scoile tríd bhur dteagmháil liom le déanaí agus sinn ar fad ag iarraidh cách a choimeád slán sábháilte le linn an ama seo. Tógfaimid lá amháin ag an am é agus guimís go mbeidh deis againn filleadh ar ár scoil álainn beomhar go luath.

Dírím ar pháistí rang a 6, ach go háirithe. Tuigimid, a pháistí, go bhfuil tús curtha againn le bhur dtéarma deireanach i Scoil Bhríde agus go mothaíonn sibh go bhfuil sibh ag cailliúnt amach ar sin ar fad, ach déanfaimid ár seacht ndícheall daoibh rudaí a chur i bhfeidhm sa todhchaí a thabharfaidh deis daoibh teacht le chéile arís.

Idir an dá linn agus go dtí go mbuailfimid le chéile arís, tugaígí aire dá chéile, a chairde.

--------------------------------------------

Scoil Bhríde was founded by Louise Gavin Duffy and Anna Hughes in 1917 and the school has provided education to girls and boys through the medium of Irish ever since. The school operates under the patronage of the Archdiocese of Dublin as day after day we endeavour to fulfil the vision of our founders and the values of our patron.

I was appointed principal on the 8th January 2018. Before my appointment I spent many happy years as a classroom teacher and as a special education teacher with the children of Scoil Bhríde. It has been a great privilege for me to have had the opportunity to have taught all age groups of children from junior infants to 6th class. It is true to say that I learned as much from the children as I hope they did from me. During those years I also returned to education and was awarded a Master of Education in 2016. It is a great honour for me to be in this role continuing the work of the eight great principals who came before me. I am also most proud of the wonderful team with whom I work each day as we take care of the social, emotional and educational needs of the children under our care.

The role of the school in the community is an important one through the immense work of our parents alongside our teaching staff for the better of all. The strong sense of place and belonging is to be cherished. It is nurtured through our community of children, parents and teachers working together with the support of our wider community. The presence of our school and its values brings a richness to our community and when it is not there it is greatly missed by all. We miss the sound of the school bell and the children racing from gairdín Bóthar Oakley through the grounds at 8.50am to get to their líne on the Beechwood Park side of the school and of course we miss the voices of our tuismitheoirí and their cúpla focal for us in the morning.

I acknowledge the struggle of our school community at the moment. The effort and resilience of our families are evident to me through your correspondence as we all attempt to keep one another as safe as we can. We will take one day at a time as we hope and pray for a return to our lovely school in the near future.

To our 6th class children who are now in their final weeks as students of Scoil Bhríde, we understand that you feel like you are missing out and we will do our best to bring you all together in the future again as our lives return to normal.

Until then and until we all meet again take care of one and all.
